Z-RAM’s four Tec9 packages for the Umarex HDR68/TR68 advertise up to 40 or 47 Joules with 12g CO₂, around 95 Joules with an external 88g CO₂ format, and up to 100 Joules with HPA. These figures describe different advertised configurations, rather than the power of the Tec9 shell. Every current package page explicitly excludes the marker and the model-specific PowerKit.
The useful comparison is how the packages address gas supply, chamber volume, barrel format and handling. The two 12g offers retain a compact cartridge format with different supplied barrel and extension scope. The 88g and HPA offers add external gas connections and shoulder-support equipment. This explains the product differences behind the headlines without treating the four numbers as results from one controlled comparison.

The external 88g package supplies the capsule adapter; its delivery list does not name an 88g cartridge. The HPA package expressly includes its bottle and regulator. That is a meaningful difference in supplied gas equipment, even before considering either energy headline.
Why gas supply and chamber function both matter
The Z-Extension provides additional internal chamber volume. At a general level, chamber volume affects the gas available during a shot, while the valve controls its release. The barrel and projectile also contribute to the final energy. Accordingly, the listed extension counts describe package contents; they are not a formula for calculating the difference between the 40- and 47-Joule offers.
CO₂ and regulated air also behave differently. CO₂ supply changes with temperature and its liquid-and-vapor state. A larger CO₂ capsule changes the available supply format, but does not make it identical to HPA or establish an energy multiplier. The current seller pages provide package-level figures without a shared chronograph protocol for all four offers.
The PowerKit exclusion is explicit
The 12g pages mention a PowerKit in their performance description. Further down, all four pages expressly state that a suitable model-specific PowerKit is not included. Their energy advertising therefore should not be read as proof that the delivered external components alone reproduce the headline result.
For the internal component itself, the PowerKit component guide explains its pin-and-valve role. The Tec9 body kit serves a different purpose: it houses the arrangement and carries the exterior fittings. Its name identifies a Z-RAM product line, not a separate Umarex marker.
Handling benefits beyond the Joule figure
All four packages name a Z-DRUM, a three-drum holder, a punch button, barrel components and Z.68s projectiles. The 88g and HPA packages add a buttstock, which the HPA description associates with shoulder support. Covers provide the exterior finish around the barrel assembly; a cover is not an additional tuning barrel.
