Umarex HDX68/TX68 88 g-to-HPA Adapter: Fit, Contents and the CO₂ Alternative

The 88 g-to-HPA adapter is a connection component for the named HDX68/TX68 40 J product, supplied without a bottle. Compare its role with the separate Quick-Piercing CO₂ unit and understand the difference between thread fit and a complete gas-system match.

The 88 g-to-HPA adapter connects an 88 g CO₂-thread arrangement to a paintball-style compressed-air bottle connection. The current offer names the Umarex T4E HDX68/TX68 40 J variant and SIG Sauer MPX, and supplies one chrome-plated steel adapter without an HPA bottle. If you want to stay with CO₂ and keep two 12 g capsules unpierced until activation, the separately offered Quick-Piercing unit serves that different purpose.

What “88 g-to-HPA” tells you

The 88 g designation identifies the CO₂ connection format involved. It is not the adapter’s own weight, an included capsule quantity or a statement about how much air a bottle holds. HPA identifies the compressed-air side of the product’s role.

This is useful when comparing shop listings because “adapter” can describe several jobs. A part that changes a connection and a unit that houses CO₂ capsules may appear alongside one another for the same marker, but they do not provide the same gas source or operating function.

The supplied part and its dimensions

Specification 88 g-to-HPA adapter
Material Chrome-plated steel
Length 4.9 cm
Diameter 2.5 cm
Supplied quantity One HPA adapter; bottle sold separately

The length and diameter help identify the physical part and assess the space it occupies. They do not describe the dimensions of a connected bottle or the clearance of an entire assembly. Buying this adapter therefore leaves the separate bottle and its approved connection requirements to be resolved for the actual marker.

Model variant and thread fit are separate checks

HDX68 and TX68 are regional names for the same Umarex T4E platform. The adapter’s description specifically names the HDX68 40 J variant, while TX68 also appears in its current title. The “40 J” wording identifies the listed variant; it is not an energy result created or guaranteed by the adapter.

Z-RAM also describes the part for setups with an 88 g CO₂ thread. That broader interface statement is useful for identifying the connection, but a matching thread alone does not establish the operating approval, sealing or clearance of a whole gas system. Keep the exact marker version and the manufacturer’s gas-supply requirements together when assessing the part.

Why HPA is considered—and what the adapter does not settle

A consistently regulated HPA supply can offer steadier pressure than CO₂ because it does not depend on CO₂’s liquid-to-vapor behavior in the cartridge. That is a general benefit of the gas supply, not an independent performance test of this adapter or every HDX68/TX68 configuration.

The regulator, valve, seals and marker design still influence consistency. The practical question is therefore whether your exact version has an approved, suitable HPA supply, not simply whether a bottle can be attached. The adapter’s dimensions and model list do not supply a pressure setting or a complete conversion plan.

A separate choice if you want to retain CO₂

The Quick-Piercing unit houses two 12 g CO₂ capsules and uses the outlet thread of a standard 88 g capsule. Z-RAM confirms that both capsules remain unpierced until deliberate activation. It is an alternative for a different gas-supply need, not an HPA bottle and not an extra component required with the HPA adapter.

The unit is listed at 220 mm long and 240 g, supplied without CO₂ capsules. Z-RAM’s current compatibility clarification treats HDX68/TX68 as a typical application rather than its only possible one; sufficient space and the exact connection still matter. Its product listing also excludes paintball gameplay, so that restriction belongs in the choice.

If the distinction between two 12 g capsules and the 88 g outlet is your next question, the Quick-Piercing guide to capsule sizes and the 88 g interface explains those terms and the separate ON/OFF adapter function.
