The long Tec9 version of the Umarex HDR50/TR50
Welcome to the Z-RAM YouTube channel. This is the long version of Z-RAM's Tec9 setup. In the last clip, Z-RAM demonstrated how targeted modifications turned the Umarex HDR50 into its custom Tec9 build. The video link appears above.
In this clip, Z-RAM turns the Tec9 setup into a long-range beast, pushing up to 80 to 100 J. It is not just for show. An XXL sniper barrel extension, a silencer, a tuning barrel and Z-RAM's EX25 valve are installed. The valve allows powerful 25 g CO2 cartridges to be used, but that is optional.
The EX25 valve also works with 20 g and even 16 g CO2 cartridges. These can be found on Amazon or in pretty much any bike shop. Z-RAM has also added its ASA-to-chamber adapter and a second Z-Extension.
Of course, this setup can also run with the standard HDR50 valve by simply adding a Z-Extension. The ASA-to-chamber adapter will then sit a little deeper. Alternatively, with two Z-Extensions, the ASA adapter can be connected without opening the body at all. Z-RAM has also added an 88 g CO2 converter with an on/off function, an 88 g cartridge and its custom shoulder stock.
Both the new Z50 V2 projectiles and the original V1 are loaded here, along with a few other ammunition types. Z-RAM has mounted a red dot sight on top, which is also available in its shop.

Performance estimates and finish
This full setup reaches around 80 to 90 J, maybe even more. Z-RAM tested it without the silencer. Since the silencer basically acts like a barrel extension, it might provide a slight power boost. Of course, this also depends on other factors, such as the warmth outside and the temperature of the CO2 cartridges. Under the right conditions, this build could definitely be pushed closer to 90 or even 100 J.
There may be a slight color difference visible between the two barrel covers. This is simply because Z-RAM accidentally mounted the wrong one. They were printed with different materials, causing the variation. The color shown here is the correct one customers will receive, so there is no need to worry: theirs will look just right. Normally, everything lines up cleanly and flush. Overall, Z-RAM considers this a super clean and badass setup.
A shorter Tec9 configuration
Personally, Z-RAM finds this setup a little too long and does not really need the silencer anyway, so the silencer is taken off again. Z-RAM then pulls off the barrel cover and fits one of the end caps shown here. Matching muzzle brakes are also available in the shop, and those look a whole lot meaner.
Z-RAM likes it way better this way: more compact, but still packing a punch. Of course, the standard barrel extension could also be fitted if desired. With the standard barrel extension, the expected output would be around 80 to 85 J; without it, probably more like 75 to 80 J. That is still more than enough in Z-RAM's view, especially considering the projectiles being used here.
The whole setup is way more compact. In Z-RAM's description, it can simply be stored under a bed, a capsule inserted and the valve opened, and it is ready to go.
EX25 cartridge requirement and gas options in the source
When the EX25 valve is used with an ASA-to-chamber adapter, a 25 g CO2 cartridge must be mounted below, as shown here. It does not matter whether it is full or empty, but it has to be screwed in; otherwise, the valve will stay open. If the 25 g capsule is to be used, the on/off adapter simply needs to be turned off, and the 25 g capsule can then be used.
Z-RAM adds that an HPA tank could even be connected at the back and a 25 g capsule at the bottom. That would mix CO2 with compressed air, which Z-RAM considers interesting to test. In Z-RAM's account, this leaves flexibility to decide at that moment how to use it.
This is loose right now because Z-RAM has not screwed it on yet, since it has not been pierced. If Z-RAM screws it on, everything will be securely fixed. This is Z-RAM's Tec9 setup as used at home. Z-RAM will now demonstrate how the long version was made from the short version. Time to get started.
Preparing the short build and rear adapter
First, Z-RAM takes out the magazine to work a little faster, then unscrews the laser pointer shown here, which is not needed for this setup. Next, the barrel cover and the standard barrel extension from the tuning barrel kit are removed.
An extension is already installed here on Z-RAM's EX25 valve. As already stated, the regular HDR50 valve can also be used, with an extension and then the ASA-to-chamber adapter mounted so it is flush here. Alternatively, a second Z-Extension can be fitted as Z-RAM does here. It then protrudes at the back, allowing direct mounting here without opening the case.
The video above shows how Z-RAM turned the HDR50 into this Tec9 and what the EX25 valve is all about. Z-RAM now removes the cap at the back.
This is the ASA-to-chamber adapter, and this is an 88 g converter with an on/off switch. It adapts HPA ASA to 88 g because the threads differ. It is already screwed on tightly, so Z-RAM leaves it attached. A little threadlocker is applied here now. That is done.
XXL sniper extension, barrel covers and silencer
Next, Z-RAM attaches a sniper extension to the tuning barrel. A threaded tuning barrel is needed to fit a sniper extension. Shorter versions are also available; this is the XXL version. The barrel cover can now slide on here, and a second barrel cover can also be fitted.
These also fit all .50-caliber barrels from Z-RAM's shop, so they would also fit the standard HDR50 housing. The silencer shown here can still be added and screwed on as well. The setup now has a tuning barrel, an XXL sniper extension and, additionally, the silencer.
88 g capsule, shoulder stock and red dot
Z-RAM proposes mounting an 88 g capsule. This is Z-RAM's buttstock, the shoulder stock for 88 g capsules, which is also available for HPA bottles. Z-RAM simply screws it on here.
If Z-RAM wants it a little longer, it can be pulled out a little and the screws tightened, making it longer. The position shown suits Z-RAM and keeps it completely black here. Next, Z-RAM mounts a red dot, then can put the magazines on.
Projectile choices and the finished setup
Z-RAM has loaded the Z50 V2 projectiles here, but also really likes using the first version. It is a little pointier, but also a little lighter and more affordable, and can also be found in the shop. Other projectiles are available here as well, such as the quite popular 9 mm projectiles or Killer Spikes.
Of course, pepper balls could also be loaded, but at this marker's power they would already burst in the barrel and then function more like a spray, according to Z-RAM. Z-RAM now loads the remaining projectiles.
Now it is all set. Z-RAM still has a 25 g capsule below that can be pierced at any time, and then it works too. Alternatively, Z-RAM can pierce the 88 g capsule and open the valve. Z-RAM adds that these can of course also be used together, or with HPA and CO2, and that the setup can be used however desired.
Next shooting tests and farewell
That is it for today. In the next video, Z-RAM will carry out some shooting tests to see what this whole setup can really do. Viewers are invited to subscribe to the channel and leave a like. Z-RAM says goodbye until next time.
