Z-RAM advertises up to 35 Joules for its original ZDR50 package using 12g CO₂ and the stock HDR50/TR50 valve with a Z-Extension. The ZDR50v2 package instead includes the EX25 valve and advertises up to 23+ Joules with threaded CO₂ cartridges. These are different complete component offers: the larger cartridge label does not mean the higher advertised energy.
The original package groups the housing with a chamber extension, tuning barrel, standard barrel extension and matching cover. The ZDR50v2 offer concentrates on the EX25 gas-supply arrangement, its integrated extension and the matching housing. Neither includes an Umarex marker or the separately offered model-specific PowerKit.

The 25g wording identifies the second package’s advertised cartridge format. Its description also expressly names threaded 16g and 20g cartridges. Those gas quantities describe the supply format, while Joules describe projectile energy. CO₂ behavior depends on temperature and the marker’s complete gas path, so cartridge mass alone cannot explain the different headlines.
What the original ZDR50 package does
The original offer keeps the stock valve as its starting point. Z-RAM assigns the Z-Extension the role of increasing chamber volume, while the supplied tuning barrel and standard extension form a separate barrel assembly. Chamber volume concerns the gas available during a shot; valve behavior determines its release. The listing’s 35-Joule figure belongs to this advertised package, rather than to its housing by itself.
The housing’s practical contribution is packaging: it accommodates the Z-Extension internally. The delivery list also includes the ZDR50 barrel cover, six Z.50v2 steel projectiles and the required small parts. That makes the barrel, cover and chamber-extension scope an important difference from the EX25-based offer. The product page’s separately discussed Modify Pin is not supplied.
What changes with EX25 and ZDR50v2
The EX25 is a steel valve designed around threaded CO₂ cartridges and an integrated Z-Extension. In the ZDR50v2 package, that integration is the reason no additional separate Z-Extension is required for the listed arrangement. The seller associates the threaded-cartridge design with extended runtime, but gives no comparable shot-count test for these two packages.
The ZDR50v2 delivery list names the two housing halves, EX25 valve, steel Power-Pin, rear handle, one drum and screws with an O-ring. The selectable handle finishes are cosmetic choices within this offer. A tuning barrel and matching barrel cover are not named in this package’s delivery list; the original 12g package explicitly includes them.
A supplied Power-Pin is not the same as a complete standalone PowerKit. Both package pages expressly say that the suitable model-specific PowerKit is excluded. That distinction matters when reading the broader performance advertising without assuming that every mentioned component arrives in the box.
Package choice and housing identity answer different questions
ZDR50 and ZDR50v2 are Z-RAM product-line names for these HDR50/TR50 arrangements.
