A steel chamber and an enlarged chamber address different properties. The Z-RAM Steel Chamber Kit is presented as a durability-focused replacement for the original aluminum chamber. The ASA Tuning Chamber Extra Long is described around increased internal air volume and is made from AL7075 aluminum. “Steel” tells you the material; “Extra Long” identifies a different chamber design. Neither word alone explains everything the part changes.
The benefit of the steel replacement
Z-RAM's Steel Chamber presentation emphasizes a CNC-machined steel body and steel plug as alternatives to the original aluminum parts. The intended benefit is resistance to deformation and wear in use. In its earlier FSC barrel-test discussion, Z-RAM also explicitly separated this replacement chamber's durability role from an increase in power.
That historical statement belongs to the steel replacement shown there. It does not mean every later product called a chamber has the same purpose. A chamber can be redesigned in size or gas capacity as well as made from another material.
The Steel Chamber Kit includes the chamber, plug and the named seals. This is useful as a defined replacement assembly: the body, closing part and sealing components are identified together. The material benefit should still be read as Z-RAM's product rationale, not an unlimited pressure rating or a guarantee of zero wear.
What an enlarged chamber changes
The ASA Extra Long listing describes an enlarged air chamber that makes more air volume available for a shot. That is a gas-capacity change, not simply a change from aluminum to steel. Its AL7075 aluminum body has a black anodized finish, with PU O-rings already installed and replacement PU seals supplied.
The practical distinction is between the chamber's construction and the amount of gas its design can make available. A larger volume can affect the shot cycle, but the outcome also depends on the gas supply, temperature, valve behavior, transfer path and overall system. More chamber volume is not itself a pressure setting, a measured energy result or proof of greater consistency.
This is why the two offers cannot sensibly be ranked using “steel versus aluminum” alone. The steel replacement is described around durability in its original role; the Extra Long adds a volume-related function using a different specified aluminum design. Material, internal volume, sealing and the intended platform all belong in the comparison.
Keep the older demonstration and the newer chamber separate
The second video below reports a Z-RAM comparison with and without an older Z-Extension arrangement. It illustrates that an extended chamber arrangement can have a performance-related purpose, unlike a material-only replacement. It is not a demonstration or test of the ASA Extra Long product, and its reported result should not be transferred to that chamber.
The platform boundary is equally specific. The Steel Chamber Kit is listed for First Strike FSC, PepperBall TCP and Tiberius T8.1/T9.1; FSC XP fit for these older internals remains unconfirmed. The ASA Extra Long has its own confirmation for FSC and FSC XP, with PepperBall TCP also confirmed by Z-RAM. It is not the corresponding T8.1/T9.1 chamber.
For a useful product inquiry, start with the change you are comparing: a replacement chamber's construction or a different chamber's gas volume. Then identify the exact marker. That keeps the discussion focused on the part's actual benefit rather than treating every “tuning chamber” as the same upgrade.
