Daniel explains that he accidentally fitted a cover printed from different material. The .50 cover listings describe a matching smooth finish intended to give the exterior a unified look.
The film explains the mismatch
In the July 2025 presentation, Daniel pauses to address the two different-looking cover sections. He attributes the variation to their different printing materials, identifies one as the correct color, and says the parts normally line up cleanly and flush. That explanation belongs to the particular demonstration: it is not evidence that a contrasting cover is a separate color option.
This distinction matters when you are using an older video as a visual reference. The demonstration contains an acknowledged mismatch; reproducing that mismatch is not the stated design goal of the covers sold to match the Tec9 body.
A smooth finish is not a material specification
Both .50 cover descriptions say the material and smooth printed finish match the Tec9 body. Neither description names a polymer grade. “Matching material” therefore should not be expanded into a claim that these covers are PLA, TPU or another specific polymer.
The short body-kit introduction below describes the clean surface finish. The separate cover presentation shows how the cover belongs to that exterior design. These are useful appearance references, but neither short contains the color-mismatch explanation from the longer film.
If your own parts appear different
Use the explanation as a reason to check, not as a diagnosis of your particular cover. A useful finish query to Z-RAM would show the two actual pieces side by side in the same photograph and identify which cover offer you ordered. Include a close view of the color difference and a separate view of the meeting edges if alignment is also in question. There is no need to open the marker to ask an exterior-finish question.
Keep the question specific: “Do these two supplied pieces have the intended matching finish?” The film’s explanation alone cannot establish which material was used for an individual customer’s part.
Choose the cover feature separately
The plain cover and the Picatinny version share the matching-finish description; the rail is a separate feature, not the explanation for the accidental two-tone appearance.
