Threadlocker and grease are not interchangeable workshop supplies. Threadlocker is selected for a threaded connection that needs securing; grease is selected for a surface that needs lubrication. When a Z-RAM video mentions both, read them as separate task requirements—not two alternative ways to care for the same part.
What the preparation clip actually distinguishes
In Z-RAM’s short toolkit presentation, Daniel first lists tools and a screw-locking product, then separately mentions grease and silicone spray. That distinction is useful before shopping: a preparation list can contain several consumables with different jobs.
The clip comes from an FSC/TCP component-installation context. It does not identify every material in another marker or turn its list into a universal maintenance kit. The question here is how to distinguish the supplies, not how to carry out that installation.
Threadlocker belongs to the fastening requirement
Z-RAM’s INBUS® 74100 listing identifies a medium-strength screw-lock product. The official INBUS product page describes its purpose as preventing unintended loosening of metal threaded connections.
“Medium-strength” therefore describes the screw-locking product; it is not a lubricant grade. Before choosing it for a job, the relevant instructions need to identify the connection, its material and the required threadlocker. A marker name in a shop collection does not answer those three questions.
Grease belongs to the lubrication requirement
The Nigrin 72266 description identifies a multi-purpose grease for long-lasting lubrication of machine parts, especially roller and plain bearings. It also lists protection against corrosion and wear. Those are lubricant functions, distinct from the INBUS screw-locking role.
One detail matters when watching the clip: the Nigrin listing explicitly says it is silicone-free. Daniel’s mention of silicone spray does not make every grease a silicone product, and it does not establish that the spray and the Nigrin product are interchangeable for a particular seal.
The grease listing also says it is suitable for plastic. That broad wording does not identify every plastic or seal compound in your equipment. Match the exact lubricant requirement for the particular component rather than turning “multi-purpose” into a universal O-ring approval.
Choose by the job, then by the exact instruction
If the task calls for securing a threaded joint, compare the specified threadlocker with the INBUS offer. If it calls for lubrication, compare the specified lubricant with the Nigrin offer. If the instructions do not identify the product type or material requirement clearly, ask about that exact part before substituting either supply.
