Z.50 Prototype for Umarex HDR50/TR50: The Full Presentation

Daniel presents the Z.50 prototype in a standard Umarex T4E HDR50/TR50. The film explores fit and flight, not Joule or FPS output, and retains the changing weight and design statements of that development stage.

Historical context: the prototype and plans below reflect the development stage in Z-RAM’s original presentation labelled “English Translation 2021”.

A sponsored Umarex HDR50/TR50 and a new Z.50 prototype

Hello, friends, and welcome to the Z-RAM YouTube channel. Today, Daniel would like to show you his new Umarex T4E HDR50, also known as the TR50, sponsored by his friend Leo from Silver Archery. You are welcome to take a look: they have all kinds of RAM markers, bows, crossbows, ammunition and all kinds of other things — really interesting things. Leo sponsored the marker so that Daniel could finally get around to making Z.50 projectiles. The projectiles now look like this: very pointed and very sharp. The edges are rounded and now perfectly adapted to the HDR50/TR50 drum. The projectile fits perfectly here and goes in easily. It can be loaded without any problems.

What the prototype test is intended to show

The next shot is with the Z.50 projectile. Now the test is whether it will fly straight into the target. There is no ballistic gel available, and this is only meant to be a quick test, so Daniel has simply glued a row of boxes together. He has taken one or two test shots, adjusted the projectile again, and continued like that. He thinks this is now the final result — the rough final result. Now for another test shot with you. In Z-RAM’s view, cardboard boxes are still quite suitable because the projectiles get stuck in them. The cardboard layers can be removed gradually, making it possible to see from the shape how the projectile flew in and how it sits inside.

About 3 metres, a used CO₂ capsule and no energy measurement

Ballistic gel is, of course, much better. Z-RAM will do another test with it, and Daniel can then include the Z.68 projectiles as well. Today, though, there will be a few spontaneous shots from about 3 metres away. The CO₂ capsule has already been used for a few shots, so this is not about Joules or FPS, but just about seeing how the projectiles fly. But one still has to be able to hit the target!

The missed shot and the recovered projectile

Unfortunately, it did not go into the target but hit here and then went into the wall at the back. So the shot hit the wall. The tip has bent down slightly, but the projectile still has a perfect shape. As you can see, it can be used again and again. Daniel will move a little closer so that he can hit the target in any case.

Entry hole and position in the cardboard

The bullet hole looks nice and neat. If the projectile had gone in wrongly somehow, the hole would have been more oval. As you can see, the projectile flew straight ahead and came to rest here facing straight ahead. The top is also visible here. You can already see from this that the projectile had a straight trajectory in any case. That was a few layers of cardboard.

A standard, untuned marker in this demonstration

The CO₂ capsule has already fired five or six shots. The marker is the standard version, not tuned. Z-RAM is curious to see how the marker performs with the projectiles once it is tuned and has a fresh capsule in it. There will definitely be a video about it.

Shape and drum fit

As you could see, the projectile flew very well, and it is very pointed. The final version will probably be a little more pointed. It fits perfectly in the drum. It goes in and out easily. It does not damage anything here, and there is also no damage to the barrel here.

From a 7 g test version to the lighter prototype

The earlier version is a bit thicker, but it does not fly well. That was Daniel’s first test. The weight would have been a little more interesting: that would be 7 g.

here in this one the walls are a bit thinner so they come to 4.5 to 5 G — Z-RAM

Z-RAM will see once the final result is available. But they fly perfectly, as you have just seen.

The first batch, future tests and viewer feedback

Stay tuned. Z-RAM looks forward to several tests, looks forward to the first batch arriving, and looks forward to your opinion on it. Caliber .50, weight 4.5 g: pointed, set to become a little sharper, and very stable. Leave a thumbs-up and subscribe to the channel. Until next time — from Daniel at Z-RAM.

For today’s separate offers rather than the prototype history, see the Z.50 and Z.50v2 version guide for Umarex HDR50/TR50. It explains the naming overlap in the 4.5 g listing and distinguishes it from the separate 6 g offer.

The current offer titled Z.50 lists six 4.5 g projectiles. Its description also uses Z.50v2 wording. This is a current listing, not a claim that the prototype’s changing 4.5–5 g statements describe every production item.

This separate Z.50v2 listing specifies six .50-caliber projectiles at approximately 6 g each. It is an alternative current offer, not the 7 g test prototype or the lighter sample shown in this film.

A separate .68-caliber development presentation

Daniel’s Z.68v2 film explains a different projectile family, including its rounded sides, unchanged 8.5 g weight and then-planned developments. It is a companion presentation, not a compatibility demonstration for the HDR50/TR50.
