Tec9 body kit for the Umarex HDR50/TR50

Welcome to the Z-RAM YouTube channel. Today, Z-RAM presents its brand-new Tec9-style body kit for the Umarex HDR50 or TR50. Take Z-RAM's word for it: this thing turns heads. The surface finish is super clean, everything feels solid and high quality, and of course Z-RAM is running it with its Z50 V2 steel projectiles, no question.

Right now, Z-RAM has its EX25 valve installed. That means it fits 25 g, 20 g and 16 g threaded CO2 capsules, but the stock HDR50 or TR50 valve fits too. An ASA-to-chamber adapter or a second Z-Extension can even be used if desired, all tucked cleanly inside the body shell. Now comes the demonstration of how to put it all together.

Standard valve and EX25 valve

Here is the standard Umarex HDR50, with these screws already loosened by Z-RAM. Once all these screws are taken out, the entire trigger unit can be lifted out. This is the trigger unit with the standard HDR50 valve attached. The trigger unit can now be dropped straight in, but for compact setups, Z-RAM personally prefers the EX25 valve.

Z-RAM has shown the EX25 valve in other videos before. It used to be called the ZDR50 V2 valve. Back then, Z-RAM even made a special ZDR50 V2 body kit for it, since the EX25 does not fit into the standard HDR50 shell. The ZDR50 V2 body kit can simply be unscrewed as shown here. The EX25 valve is now visible, already mounted inside the trigger unit.

One big advantage is that the Z-Extension is built right in. On top of that, 25 g, 20 g or 16 g threaded CO2 capsules can be used. These capsules are easy to find on Amazon or in many bike shops; they are commonly used to inflate tires. Z-RAM has shown how to install this valve in the trigger housing in other videos. For reference here, Z-RAM recommends installing the trigger unit this way around.

Before that, Z-RAM wants to push the performance even further by adding a second Z-Extension. The EX25 already has one built in, and now another is being stacked on top. Z-RAM has shown in previous videos that running the stock valve with two Z-Extensions can boost performance, especially with longer barrels and higher output pressure. Since the Tec9 housing provides plenty of space and supports CO2 capsules up to 25 g, this setup makes perfect sense to Z-RAM. Some threadlocker should always be used to make sure everything stays secure.

Trigger unit, drum lock and magazine release

It still fits perfectly in here. Even the ASA-to-chamber adapter would fit just fine, but Z-RAM will save that for one of the next videos. Next, the barrel is inserted, followed by the drum lock and its matching spring.

Now it is time for the magazine release button. These two parts are included in the kit. The small spring is inserted into the hole shown here; the button is then pushed through the slot in the housing and given a twist. Once it is in place, it can be released. It locks in, and the spring provides the right tension. That is most of the work done.

Before closing it up, the magazine release button must be double-checked for proper seating, the drum lock and its spring for correct operation, and the barrel spring for the right position. Otherwise, the shell will not close properly. The other half of the shell can now be placed on top, making sure the magazine release button lines up with the hole and the drum lock lever fits through the slot. Everything is then simply pressed together.

The body kit has a really smooth surface; it is not even apparent that it is 3D printed. Printing one actually takes almost two full days. Next is the drum lock lever extension, also included in the kit. It is lined up as shown here and pressed onto the lever. All the small screws are then inserted; they are all included in the kit.

CO2 capsule and drum holders

Z-RAM now has all the screws in. A 25 g capsule can now be screwed in here and the grip snapped back on. The drum can then slide straight in. These drums are loaded with Z-RAM's Z50 V2 steel rounds.

Here is the triple-drum magazine holder. Three HDR50 drums fit inside, and these can also be found in Z-RAM's shop. The drums sit tight and secure, but can still be popped out quickly and easily when it is time to reload. Inside the holder are the small spring-loaded latches shown here. They lock into place here and keep the drums firmly secured.

The magazine holder can now simply slide straight in. It fits super snugly in the body. To remove it, the button shown here is pressed and the holder pulled back out. This is basically what the finished short version of the Tec9 looks like. The actual short-version kit comes with a smaller two-drum magazine holder, but the setup would look just like this.

Barrel extensions, covers and sights

The barrel extension can now be screwed on, or even the sniper extension if a long-range configuration is desired. Then comes the barrel cover, simply placed over the barrel and secured with the included screws. Z-RAM has tightened the screws, and the barrel extension is now mounted.

An XXL sniper extension can also easily be added here. The barrel will stick out a little, or more barrel covers can be added to keep the appearance clean. A red dot or a scope can also be fitted if desired. That is it: the fully built Z-RAM Tec9 setup is ready to go.

HPA and 88 g CO2 options

If desired, Z-RAM's ASA-to-chamber adapter can be mounted to convert the setup to HPA or 88 g CO2. It simply slides in through the rear port, with the tank attached here. This one is a 1,100 PSI regulator with a bottle and matching buttstock. The setup can also run on 88 g CO2, with the correct adapter, which is also available in Z-RAM's shop.

Modular configurations and Z-RAM upgrade packages

Z-RAM thinks the Tec9 body kit turned out great. It looks awesome and feels super solid. The quality is top-notch, and the finish is clean and durable. Everything is modular: Z-RAM's EX25 valve or the stock HDR50 valve can be used, and the build can be short or long without any need to modify the shell. It even hides and protects the Z-Extension if one is installed.

Z-RAM's shop also offers the body kit in various custom upgrade packages with tons of extra parts. With those kits, the HDR50 can be upgraded into a full Tec9-style build reaching 80-plus joules and beyond. For questions, Z-RAM can be contacted through the shop chat or a comment below the video. The link is in the video description.

In the next video, Z-RAM will carry out some shooting tests so viewers can see the Tec9 in action. Viewers are invited to make sure they subscribe so they do not miss it. Z-RAM looks forward to seeing everyone next time.
