Read a Z-RAM Z-MAG chronograph test for First Strike FSC or PepperBall TCP as a sequence of individual measurements—not one FPS figure promised for every shot. The 8 g and 16 g CO₂ clips below announce several successive readings, and those readings change during each demonstration. A useful reading therefore keeps the sequence, the filmed configuration and the measuring instrument's range together.
The first reading is only the first reading
In the 8 g clip, Z-RAM identifies the Z-MAG, capsule size and Z.68s projectiles before calling out successive speeds. The 16 g clip follows the same basic presentation with its named capsule and projectiles. Both contain lower later readings, so quoting only the first number would leave out a meaningful part of the test.
There are two different questions here: how fast an individual shot was, and how closely the successive readings agree. A high opening reading does not establish consistency across the rest of the sequence. Nor does the number of readings shown establish how many usable shots every owner will get from that capsule.
Speed, energy and capsule size answer different questions
FPS means feet per second: it is a speed unit. Joules describe energy, which depends on projectile mass as well as speed. A speed reading alone is therefore not a complete energy result, and a reported energy result is not a measurement of grouping or accuracy.
The 8 g or 16 g capsule label identifies the CO₂ amount used in the demonstration. It is not the projectile's weight, magazine capacity or an energy rating. The Z-MAG's support for non-threaded 8 g, 12 g, 16 g and 20 g capsules is a compatibility statement; it does not supply a guaranteed speed or shot yield for those formats.
Check the meter's range before choosing a chronograph
The Sports Sensors Handheld Chronograph offered in the shop is a compact radar speed meter with a listed measuring range of 200–399 fps. That range matters as much as its pocket-sized format. Do not assume that it can measure a reading below 200 fps or above 399 fps simply because it is a chronograph.
The Z-MAG clips illustrate why an instrument that covers an opening reading may not cover every later reading. The handheld meter is a relevant option when its stated range covers the measurements you need; it is not a universal choice for documenting an entire changing shot sequence. Its product card below is a separate instrument option, not a claim that this exact model produced the filmed results.
A changing result is not a diagnosis
Gas supply and temperature can affect consistency, but so can seals, valve and chamber behavior, the barrel, and projectile fit and weight. A changing sequence does not isolate one of those factors or prove that the magazine is faulty. Likewise, a short demonstration does not establish that another marker with the same magazine will repeat its results.
When comparing reports, keep the exact marker, projectile, gas source and stated test conditions attached to the numbers. If you are investigating a fault rather than interpreting a video, the FSC guide to gas, seals and feeding symptoms explains why those systems need to be considered separately. For a purchase question, the Z-MAG frame-kit guide covers what the magazine offer actually supplies.

Z-RAM names the Z-MAG, 8 g capsule and Z.68s projectiles, then calls out a sequence of speeds. Listen to the sequence rather than treating its opening figure as the whole result.
